Classic wooden vessels “belong” to everyone who has a genuine interest in them. As such, owners are the custodians of the vessels for the wider wooden boat fraternity and for future generations.

Jim Woods has been attached to wooden boats ever since his grandfather nailed a broomstick to an old timber door and they sailed that imaginary boat around a garden in Kew. He has been the custodian of several historic vessels including the 1928 50 foot gaff rigged topsail ketch “Ron of Argyll” and “Windward II” – a racing cutter from 1929.

The current form of Margaret Pearl is a result of Jim’s vision for a safe and reliable cruising vessel.

Sam Woods has always enjoyed an adventurous life and became involved in the wooden boat world when she married Jim.

Sam and Jim have cruised to remote places in Australia and elsewhere.
